Claremont Lincoln University offers a Course-Based Cost Model (CBCM) that provides a clear, simplified pricing model to help learners who have been priced out by traditional tuition structures. Made possible through the support of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, Course-Based Cost gives students a straightforward cost for a degree they can earn at their own pace. Under this model, students pay a flat rate of $270 per course, bringing the total cost of the full 60-credit completion program to $5,400 for those who require all 20 courses.

A: The Course-Based Cost Model (CBCM) is a tuition structure in which students are charged a flat rate per course rather than per credit hour. This model is designed to provide greater transparency, predictability, and clarity around the total cost of completing a degree. 

A: Claremont Lincoln University is the university of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. Both organizations were founded through the Lincoln family’s philanthropic commitment to foster learning and collaboration while preparing the leaders the world needs now. This simplified, transparent, and predictable per-course pricing model is made possible by the generosity of the Lincoln Institute, allowing the university to reduce the financial burden on students. This support ensures that CLU can maintain high-quality degree programs, instruction, and student services while offering transparent pricing aligned with a shared mission to expand access to education for undergraduate learners committed to creating positive social impact. 

A: Under the CBCM, undergraduate courses are priced at $270 per course. 

A: The baccalaureate completion program requires up to 60 credits, which typically equates to 20 courses. At $270 per course, the total cost for students who require the full 60 credits is $5,400. Not all students require the full 60 credits, and total program cost may be lower depending on transfer credit. 

A: No. The CBCM does not change program length or academic requirements. Students may complete their degree at the same pace as before, based on enrollment status (full-time or part-time). 

A: Most students enroll according to the following pattern: 

  • Full-time students typically take two courses per part of term 
  • Part-time students typically take one course per part of term 

 On average, students complete approximately 10 courses per academic year once the program is fully scaled. 

A: New bachelor’s students pay a one-time application fee of $125 that covers a comprehensive credit evaluation to determine transfer credits and prior learning credits, based on official transcripts from all colleges attended. No other application-related fees are required. Textbook costs may apply depending on the course. This fee is waived for CLU partners. 

A: Yes. Continuing undergraduate students who are eligible for federal financial aid may continue to use Title IV funding, provided they meet all standard eligibility requirements. 

A: Yes. New undergraduate students enrolling under the Course-Based Cost Model may use Title IV federal financial aid, subject to the same eligibility requirements that apply under the traditional tuition model. 

A: No. The implementation of the Course-Based Cost Model does not change CLU’s participation in Title IV federal financial aid programs.

A: Yes. If you qualify for a Pell Grant, your funding may significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs, ultimately helping you finish your degree with less debt. 

A: No. Students applying to our bachelor’s programs benefit from the deeply reduced pricing offered through the Course-Based Cost Model and are not eligible for additional scholarships.  

A: No. Students applying to our bachelor’s program may not apply any other institutional discounts, including those provided to active military and veterans, educational partners, etc. 

A: No. The Course-Based Cost Model currently applies only to undergraduate programs.
